Uemuraya

I came here for lunch with colleague and got seated relatively immediately. The key ingredient of this Ramen is a head of cabbage that stock from local farm directly in Yokohama, which is very fresh.

I tried Ramen and the price is relatively reasonable(500 yen) The soup is based on Tonkotsu flavor(otherwise known as pork bone broth) Generally speaking, that kind of Ramen is too greasy and salty; however, it was totally different. The cabbage goes with this Ramen and provides a refreshing aftertaste. It is worth a try when you come to Yokohama area.

Tanaka Shouten

Tanaka Shouten(田中商店)was highly recommended by my girl friend. It is located in Kitasenju area but this place is far from the station. (please refer the address below)

I tried Ramen(680 yen) and it was absolutely amazing. This is Hakata Ramen style which is basically made from pork and the noodles are thin and straight. The white soup was very tasty and flavorful.

The only downfall to this place is that it gets crowed and could potentially end up waiting for approximately 30 minutes. Regardless, it is worth the wait for this Ramen. I will definitely come back to this place.

Misogorou

Misogorou is the local Ramen restaurant that is  located near Musashi-kosugi station. It is very rare restaurant around here because they serve delicious Miso(bean paste) Ramen that is  originally from Hokkaido.

I tried Miso Ramen. Surprisingly, there are bunch of minced meat(Roast pork) on the top, which was amazing. I have never seen that kind of Ramen style before!  But from my personal point of view, the total rating is relatively low because the taste is too salty and greasy.

Shinpukusaikan

Shinpukusaikan(新福菜館) is the local Ramen restaurant that is located near the Kyoto station. It takes approximately 10 minutes on foot.

I ordered Ramen for 650 yen.
As you see in this photo, one of the specialties is black soup and that extremely impressed me. It is made from soy souce and it adds a good flavor. The taste was also very mild and rich.

Moreover, I am in love with char siu (slices of meat) especially the soy souce that they come with. Just a great flavor explosion in your mouth.

Fukuya

I came here after work yesterday. Since one of my friends told me this place, I have been having dinner more than three times.

Fukuya is the local "Tonkatsu" restaurant near Shinmaruko station.

Ton = Pork, Katsu = Breaded with Panko & Fried

One of my favorites is Sauce Katsudon (port cutlet on rice). Pork cutlet's quality was absolutely amazing. Some of thier manu is a little expensive but they never disappoint us.

RASTA

RASTA is popular Ramen restaurant around Yokohama area. The amazing soup have attracted a lot of new fans. When I have noticed this place years ago, I always see a crowd outside. Finally I got the opportunity to eat there.

I tired Rasta Ramen(850yen). The soup is made from pork born and soy sauce. One of the key features of  RASTA is large toasted laver(seaweed) as you can see in this photo.

But personally, the soup is too salty and greasy. I also found myself thirsty during and after my meal. The total rating is relatively low.

Bird Court

It's really difficult to review this place without saying "Wow". To be honest, Bird Court is the best Yakitori restaurant I've ever been.

I came here for dinner and ordered course meal. The price is 4,200yen per person(the highest full course is 6,300yen). The price is not reasonable but you can taste amazing Yakitori.

The course meal included char-broiled chicken, liver, gizzard, meatball and so on. I was repeatedly impressed with quality of foods.

In this restaurant, I highly recommend you to eat Yakitori with red wine. I chose Pinot Noir and the combination of Yakitori is indeed superb.

Afuri

Recently this Ramen restaurant called Afuri has been popular among women in their 20s.

It is located near Nakameguro station. This area is one of the popular dating spots in Tokyo. For this reason, there are many young couples in this restaurant.

I tried Shio Ramen(Salt Ramen in Eng). It is simply amazing. Especially soup quality is superb and never tasted before. It is light and easy to eat but aftertaste is rich. It delivers a refreshing feeling.

DARUMA

Around Tokyo's Shitamachi area, there are lot of Japanese pizza restaurants.

DARUMA(だるま) is one of  the popular Japanese pizza restaurants and located near Tokyo sky tree. I have tried a few other places around here but this is the only the place that impressed me.

It has always a long line. I came to here last weekend and waited for approximately 40 minutes.

I tried Monja-yaki that is a type of Japanese pan-fried batter with various ingredients; seasoned cod roe, octopus and so on. It was very tasty. You should not miss it when you come to Tokyo.

Sushisei

Sushisei (寿司清) is one of the popular Sushi Bars in Tsukiji Japan. I came here  with my parents on Sunday afternoon. Eating sushi with Japanese sake is my favorite.

The food is extreamely delicious. The foods in season are sardine, mackerel, bonito, and noodlefish. I tried noodlefish that is sushi topped with ginger and green onions. I was impressed with the quality of food.

TETSU

To be honest, I am a big fan of this noodle shop called TETSU that is located near Roppongi station. It reminds me of my school days  (When I wan in college, TETSU was also located in Kyoto station)

When I entered the restaurant, the waitress welcomes me with a big smile. I ordered basic Tsukemen(750yen)  As you can see in this photo, it  is totally different styles of Ramen. It is called Tsukemen in Japanese that is cold noodles with soup for dipping. TETSU's soup is made of dried bonito and pork bone. The taste is rich but not greasy. I strongly recommend you to eat here.

Meikyoku Kissa Lion

Meikyoku Kissa Lion is one of the traditional classical music cafe that is located in Shibuya Tokyo. Surprisingly, it was established in 1926.

When I entered the cafe, the Rachmaninov piano concerto was playing. The seat is kind of like a church pew and we can see an enormous pair of speakers in the front.

I ordered black coffee (500yen) and enjoyed listening classical music for two hours. I heard they always welcome listener's request. I will definitely try Rachmaninov again next time.

Unfortunately, conversations are discouraged in this cafe. For this reason, when we want to talk to somebody, we need to use paper writing to communicate.

Oreryu Shio Ramen

The Ramen shop called Oreryu Shio Ramen(My Salt Ramen in English) is located in Nakameguro station. It takes 5 mitues from Shibuya by train.

Indeed, the most popular one is Shio(Salt) Ramen. Soup is basically made from salt and chicken bone. Recently this style has been popular among young women because the taste is so light and easy to eat.

I definitely ordered Shio Ramen and taste was pretty good. The chefs told me that the key for Shio Ramen is using high-quality ingredients because salty taste is not easy to differentiate compared to other Ramen shop that offered Shio Ramen.

Don

After work, I went to Hiyoshi that is one of famous down town areas in Yokohama. There are lot of Japanese students living hear so we can taste the local foods at resonable prices.

When I arriveed at Hiyoshi, there is a good smell coming from East gate. I finally chose the ramen shop called "Don". It takes 3 minites from Hiyoshi station. It has always long line of hungry people waiting.

I orderd basic one "Ramen". As you can see the photo, you can guess this is differnet styles of Ramen.

It was a big bowl of noodle and it also includes lots of raw garlic on the top. Basically garlic increase s people 's stamina, but unfortunately, after eating, it annoyed many people. I have regretted to get this on Monday.

Last weekend, I finally got the opportunity to have lunch at Chicho which is famous Ramen restaurant in Shibuya. It took 15 minites  from Shibuya station on foot. Many people in line found out about there on a weblog or word of mouth. At that time, I ordered the basic Tsukemen. The taste was pretty good.

The address is as follows.
